PVR Pictures - the movie production and distribution arm of PVR Ltd. has created history by becoming the first Indie distributor to release a movie parallel to its international release date. The movie creating this historic event for PVR Pictures is none other than 9 which released world over on 09.09.09. Directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton & Timur Bekmambetov, 9 is one of the most critically acclaimed animation films to have received an encouraging response in recent times. The post - apocalyptic film includes the voice star cast of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover.

By achieving a mid-week day date release ahead of even developed markets like UK, Australia which is otherwise difficult in a traditional market, films like 9 have significantly contributed in the process of reducing piracy and given India a platform to be recognized as an important market for the Hollywood studios.

This animated story is about 9 - an underdog hero, a born leader who is dark, quirky, intelligent and believes in taking risks besides wishing to know the meaning of life.
